TARGET

DESCRIPTION
The A-510 Target is a general-purpose,
2-axis bore target comprised of a target and an insertion pole. It is
used with customized adapters to measure bores from 1.5" to 18"
(40 mm to 450 mm). The adapter can be attached to the target in either
Self-Centering Mode or Measurement Mode. In Self-Centering Mode, the target
automatically centers itself in any bore size that is +/- .060" (1.52
mm) from the adapter bore diameter. It self-centers by carefully centering
the target PSD cell axially between the feet. This puts the target cell
on the pivot point and allows it to vary by up to 45º without affecting
the center. The adapter is actually slightly larger than the bore, so
when it is inserted in the bore (by pulling on the cord and tipping it
forward) and the cord is released, it "jams" in the bore, centering
itself.
In Measurement Mode, the target will measure the bore diameter.
First, a reference diameter is measured with an inside micrometer. The
target is placed in the reference bore and the reading is noted. The target
is then inverted and the readings averaged to calculate the target centering
error. The corrected reading becomes the benchmark diameter. Subsequent
measurement points in the bore are compared to the benchmark and the difference
in target readings is the increase or decrease in bore diameter.
APPLICATIONS
- Any bore application with minimum of 1.5"
(38 mm) diameter
- Extruders-single or twin barrel
- Boring bar bearing supports
- Engine block crankcase bores
- Cylinder bores
FEATURES
- Self-centering, 2-axis target accurate to .0005"
(.013 mm) with a resolution of .0001" (.0025 mm).
- Measures bore straightness in Self-Centering Mode, or
bore diameters in Measuring Mode.
- Tips on adapter feet use hardened carbide steel balls
that rarely wear out.
- Target with adapters can handle diameter variations
of +/- .060" (1.52 mm).
- Rugged, portable and very lightweight.
- Uses the following bore adapters:
- A-510A 2" to 4" (50 mm to 100 mm)

A-511 WAND BORE TARGET

DESCRIPTION
The Model A-511 Wand Bore Target is a single-axis, micrometer-adjustable
target designed for measuring the center of large bores. It uses a fixture
with two legs: a measuring leg, with an adjustable measuring tip, and
a brace leg that is perpendicular to the measuring leg and ending in a
T-shaped tip. The legs are supplied by the user, made from hollow steel
tubing and cut to a length so that the distance from the tip of the measuring
leg to the target center is approximately equal to the radius of the bore.
The target's micrometer provides the fine centering adjustment. The target
head swivels to face the beam regardless of its direction, and the unit
has a ten-foot cable that can be used with target extension cables to
fit any size bore or working environment.
To take bore alignment readings, the A-511 is set horizontally to the
same side of each bore to be measured and is "zeroed out" using
the micrometer. For vertical center measurements, the target measuring
leg is then positioned vertically and the bore center measurement is taken
by sweeping the target through "top-dead center". For the horizontal
measurement, the target measuring leg is set horizontally to the side
opposite where the target was "zeroed out". To find "top-dead
center" the A-511 is swept though the "high point"; in
other words, the target is moved toward and away from the laser, along
the centerline, and the highest reading is recorded.
APPLICATIONS

from 6" to 48"+ (150 mm to 1.2 M).

T-212 4-AXIS
TARGET

DESCRIPTION
The T-212 4-Axis Target is a general-purpose target that
provides both 2-axis centering and squareness (pitch and yaw) measurements.
To switch from center mode to squareness mode, a precision lens (1"
focal length) is inserted into the face of the target. The target is extremely
useful for aligning headstocks to tailstocks on lathes, measuring squareness
on machining centers and aligning spindles in transfer lines. It can be
used with the L-700, L-705, L-720, and L-720M lasers. A .500" (12.7
mm) diameter stud at the rear of the T-212 allows easy mounting and simplified
fixture design.
APPLICATIONS
- Rotary dial machines
- Vertical and horizontal machining centers
- Lathe alignment
- Printing press side frames
- Transfer-line spindle alignment
- Boring-bar bearings
- Bar feeders
FEATURES
- Fast, easy 2-axis measurement of both center and
angle with one setup.
- The .500" (12.7 mm) diameter stud allows easy
mounting and simplified fixture design.
- Can be used with the R-307 Dual-Axis Readout, the

T-218
UNIVERSAL"SEE-THROUGH" TARGET

DESCRIPTION
The T-218 Universal Target is a two-axis, "see-through"
target designed for multiple-target, centering applications, like turbine
or other large bore applications. A small mirror directs the beam to the
target cell that is 90º to the centerline; this mirror can be flipped
out of the way to allow the laser beam to pass through the target body
without optical interference. The T-218T can be used with the T-225(L)
flange(s) adapter(s), tooling sphere, turbine mounting fixtures, the T-230
target stand, or custom fixtures. Used with the L-700, L-705, and L-720M
lasers. T-218T has an adapter flange for turbine alignment applications.
APPLICATIONS
- Turbine Bores
- Hinge Lines
- General Bores, large and small
- Cam/Crankshaft/Cylinder Bore Alignment/Inspection
- Bar Feeders
FEATURES
- "See-through" target with small mirror
that flips out allowing the beam to pass entirely through the target.
- Compatible with the R-307 Dual-Axis Readout, R-307V
Large LED Dual-Axis Readout and the R-355/R-358 Computer Interface and
with future readout designs.
- Three flanges adapter for bores, centerlines, and
tooling spheres make designing and building fixtures easy.

T-261A SIMULTANEOUS 4-AXIS SPINDLE
TARGET

DESCRIPTION
The T-261A Four-Axis Spindle Target has the most angular
sensitivity of any Hamar Laser target. It reads both center and angle
(pitch and yaw) simultaneously, allowing a real-time display of alignment.
Readings are accurate to .0001"/ft. (.0083 mm/M) in angle mode and
.0001" (.0025 mm) in center mode. Two levels, top and bottom, provide
easy indexing when inverting the target for error correction readings.
The standard .500" (12.7 mm) mounting stud simplifies fixture design,
and removes easily for attaching custom mounting hardware.
The T-261A can be used in a wide range of alignment/measurement applications.
For use with L-700, L-705, L-720 and L-720M. For the most efficient alignment,
we highly recommend that the T-261A be used with the R-355/R-358 Interfaces
and Spindle 8 Software; although it can be used with two R-307 Dual-Axis
Readouts or two R-307V Large-Number LED Readouts.
APPLICATIONS
- Transfer Lines (Spindle)
- Rotary Dial Spindle Alignment
- Turning Applications (Cylindrical, OD/ID Grinders, Lathes)
- Machining Centers with L-720(M) (HBM, VBM, VTL, VMC,
HMC, Gantries, Surface Grinders)
FEATURES
- Simultaneously measures 4 axes - horizontal and vertical
center and angle (pitch and yaw).
- .0001"(.0025 mm) center resolution and .0001"/ft
(.008 mm/M) angular resolution.
- When used with Hamar Laser's computer interface and software,
the T-261A. Provides continuous, real-time information to a "live"
graphic display that enables the user to see changes and adjustments
in all 4 axes as they are made.
- Two levels, top and bottom, provide repeatability in
rotational positioning when performing the NORMIN procedure.
- The .500" (12.7 mm) diameter mounting stud
simplifies fixture design and building and can be easily replaced with
custom mounting fixtures.
