The Right Choice in Laser Alignment

L-732 Precision Dual Scan® Laser Alignment System

L-732 Precision Dual Scan® Laser Alignment System

We’re relatively new to laser alignment. In just a short time since we purchased it, however, our new laser alignment system from Hamar Laser has quickly become an essential tool, helping us to build and maintain high quality linear measurement systems for our customers.

Accurate Technology manufactures ProScale® linear measuring products based on inductive encoding measurement technology. These include linear encoders to complex multi-axis measuring gages. We have been using Hamar’s L-732 Precision Dual-Scan® Laser Alignment System primarily to align measurement devices in our Quality Control family. These include our ProTable OPT single- and multi-axis non-contact measuring system, ProTable SA single-axis system for industrial length measurement, and ProTable GA two-axis gantry system for measuring large equipment. We use the L-732 to build these measurement systems and to align them in the field.

The L-732 is highly accurate and easy to learn and use. The laser is especially useful when we need to align devices with one or more long axes. In some cases, this can be as much as 40 feet. Some of our systems measure multiple axes. Our ProTable OPT, for example, can measure along 2, 3 or even 4 axes. With its two auto-rotating lasers, the L-732 works very well for aligning devices like these.

We’ve been extremely impressed with Hamar Laser’s products, service and training. When we first got started, Rod Hamar invited me to his company headquarters, showed me the alignment equipment he recommended for our needs and explained the ins and outs of laser technology. I saw that lasers are not just for aligning machine tools!

Ron Sullivan did our initial training. He was extremely knowledgeable about the product and spoke at a level that our people could understand. Since acquiring the laser, we’ve reached out many times with questions and the response time has been excellent.

Using lasers to align our measurement products has been a real game changer for us. Initially, we had been looking for a way to confirm that our systems were aligned properly at our customers’ facilities. We encountered laser interferometers in the field, but these were difficult to use. Whenever the laser beam was broken, you had to begin the alignment process all over again. I knew there had to be a better way.

We’ve also seen so-called “point-and-shoot” lasers, but these typically cost much more than Hamar’s L-732, which does a better job. Hamar Laser systems are highly repeatable and give us and our customers the confidence of knowing that our measurement systems are aligned properly.

Like Hamar Laser, we’re a family-owned business known for product and customer support excellence, and our product line and company are continuing to grow. We’ve built numerous measurement systems in the last few years and have used Hamar’s L-732 to align many of them – accurately, quickly and reliably. Clearly, we made the right choice with Hamar Laser!
