Measuring split joints during an outage can take hours and hold up other critical work on the turbine. Traditionally split joints are measured with transits and usually require at a 2-man crew. The measurements rely on the human eye and are subject to interpretation by the operator, an inexact science.

Hamar Laser has set the standard by which all other laser systems are now measured. We created the very first flat laser plane way back in 1974. Since then, our lasers have significantly improved in accuracy and ease of use, and with the introduction of our automatically rotating laser plane, we revolutionized the alignment industry. Others have tried, but no one has yet been able to produce laser planes as flat and easy to use as our continuously rotating lasers. High Accuracy Reduces Optics Guesswork

Hamar Laser's L-730 Leveling Laser System is accurate to
+/-.001" in 100' (+/-.0001" in 10') under good atmospheric conditions. This accuracy turns the alignment process from an art using optics to a science using lasers. Optics are considered an art because each operator "sees" the readings differently and essentially has to make an educated guess as to the correct number. With the L-730, this guesswork is eliminated because the target electronics determine the alignment reading.

Reduce Alignment Work Crews

The L-730 only requires one operator, even on the very largest jobs. That frees up critical manpower to perform other tasks on the outage, further reducing the duration of the outage. In fact, the same technician can operate the L-730 Leveling System and the L-705 Bore Alignment Laser for Turbines!

Multiple Targets for Fast Split Joint Measurements

The L-730 Leveling Laser System can use multiple targets which really speeds the data-taking process for split (horizontal) joints. In fact, there is no limit to the number of targets that can be used. The combination of automatically rotating lasers and multiple targets can easily reduce split-joint measurement time by 50% or more.

Wireless Targets and Readouts

With Hamar's new line of wireless targets (A-1519 and A-1520) there is no need to string long extension cords to reference targets. The targets have up to a 1" measuring range and can be used up to 100 feet from the readout. The new readout (R-1309) uses a Cassiopeia PDA, color software and a wireless receiver to display up to four targets simultaneously. Other features like electronic zeroing and target averaging help to speed setup.

Most Accurate Mechanical Levels Available

The L-730 Laser uses split-prism level vials that are accurate to 1 arc second. Only expensive, difficult-to-use, and fragile electronic levels are more accurate. The combination of accurate levels and automatically rotating laser planes creates an alignment tool that is hard to beat.

Color Windows 95/98 Software

The L-730 can also be linked to our new Plane 5 flatness analyzing software. It is a Windows 95/98 based software that can analyze almost any layout for flatness or straightness. Plane 5 will even analyze squareness if used with our squareness lasers (L-743, L-742, L-741 and L-740). Squares, rectangles, frames, circles, rings, and up to four sets of ways can all be easily analyzed with Plane 5. The alignment data is automatically downloaded by using either the R-355D Computer Interface or our new wireless data receiver, the A-908.
