EXTRUDER ALIGNMENT

Hamar Laser manufactures the most accurate and portable bore alignment laser on the market today. In most cases, our bore alignment systems can fit into a case that is not much larger than a briefcase. With a variety of target options, Hamar Laser's bore alignment systems have a solution for you. There are self-centering targets, see-through targets, 2-axis targets and 4-axis targets, using either hand-held readouts or Windows-based color software. And as with all of Hamar Laser's products, the data is live so if a bore is out of alignment, the laser can be used to bring it into tolerance.

10-Minute Setup

With simplified fixturing and self-centering targets, the L-705 Laser Borescope can be setup and misalignment data taken in as little as 10 minutes. And in most cases, bore straightness data can be taken and analyzed in 10 minutes or less using our Windows 95/98 software.

Complete Alignment in Less Than 1 1/2 Hours

In most cases, an extruder can be completely aligned in less than 1 1/2 hours, including setup! Compared with optics that can take 2 hours just to set up, the L-705 can bring your extruders back on line, producing parts as quickly as possible.

Double or Triple Barrel and Screw Life

Extruders will last up to 3 times longer with laser alignment. With barrels costing up to $5,000 and screws even higher, the L-705 can pay for itself very quickly. It can further save money by reducing the electrical consumption of the motor. We've had one customer use a forklift to pull out the screw from one extruder and after laser alignment, slide it back in by hand.

Patented Self-Centering Target Vastly Simplifies Setup

Hamar Laser has developed the world's first self-centering target (A-510) that uses no moving parts. It takes just seconds to position the target in the barrel for an accurate measurement down to .0005" (.013 mm). The A-510 can also be used for measuring barrel wear.

Superior Design Reduces Fixturing Costs

The L-705 Laser has been designed with a .750" (19.05 mm) mounting stud and flat face with magnets to hold it flush to fixturing. Since the laser beam is concentric to the OD to within .0005" (.013 mm), a simple flat face and .750" (19.05 mm) hole on center is all that is needed to hold the laser (a self-centering chuck is typically used for extruders). In fact, the laser replaces the first reference target that a typical borescope would need. Hamar Laser has even designed a procedure, called NORMIN, to eliminate mounting and centering errors of the fixtures.

Long Range and High Accuracy

The L-705 Laser Borescope has a range of 100 feet (30.5 M), and under good environmental conditions, it is accurate to .001" (.025 mm) over the whole range. By carefully following the NORMIN procedure, accuracies of .0001" (.0025 mm) in 10 feet (3 M) can also be achieved.

System Handles Large Range of Bores

Any bore, from 1.5" (38.1 mm) on up to 36" or more, can easily be measured with our L-705 Laser Borescope. For smaller bores up to 14", the A-510 Two-Axis Self-Centering Target is used quickly measure bore straightness. For larger bores, the T-218 Two-Axis Universal Target is used. The T-218 has prism that can be flipped out of its center, allowing the laser to pass through and other bores to be measured. This is especially useful for alignment of multiple bores over long distances, such as steam or gas turbine alignment.
