The center is managed by our worldwide laser alignment expert, Mr. Darel Ford. Mr. Ford has more than 30 years of laser alignment experience, not only as a trainer but also as a long-time service technician, which gives Mr. Ford an unparalleled depth of knowledge to give to his students. He has expertise in all applications utilizing our world-renown laser alignment products. In addition, he is an expert at achieving the highest accuracy possible out of our laser products and knows from hard-earned experience, what works and what does not. All of Mr. Ford's experience has gone into the content of our training courses. Each course covers the basics, such as setup, calibration, laser theory and troubleshooting. In addition, we can customize each course to the specific needs of the students, providing valuable timesaving shortcuts and hands-on training for almost any laser alignment application.

Spindle Alignment, Level 1 - Basic

PREREQUISITE: 0 to 100 Hours of Laser Alignment Experience Using the Hamar Laser L-700 Spindle Alignment System

It will provide trainees with information to correctly install and use the software and L-700 Spindle Alignment System, and to perform the four steps of laser alignment.

Geometric Alignment, Level 1 - Flat and Level

PREREQUISITE: None

This course will enable the student to properly set-up and measure a mechanical Coupling using the Hamar Laser Coupling Alignment System.

Trainee will be able to:

  1. Correctly assemble and install the brackets, the target, and the laser on the shafts.
  2. Correctly connect a target, an interface, and a computer.
  3. Install, set-up, and operate the Couple5 or Couple6 Software.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will enable the student to properly set-up and measure using a L-705 Laser, R-1307 Readout, A-510 or T-218 Target and use the software as needed.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Trainee will be able to:

  1. Install and align the laser to the axis of rotation or the required reference line.
  2. Setup the target and the readout to manually take data and to use the proper formulas to calculate the alignment.
  3. Install, setup, and take data using Bore9 to plot straightness.

Turbine Alignment Certification

PREREQUISITE: None

SPECIFIC NEEDS TRAINING ADDRESSES: This course will provide the attendee with information, which will enhance the knowledge of turbine laser alignment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will provide theory explanation and hands on application in the following areas:

  • Mounting and centering of the A-501 Target Holders in the turbine component
  • Aligning the laser to the reference targets
  • Measuring the alignment of internal turbine components using an A-501 Target Holder and the A-511 Wand Bore Target
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Trainee will be able to:

  1. Properly mount the A-501 Target Fixture to a turbine component.
  2. Align the A-501 Target Fixture to the center of the component using a dial indicator bore sweep unit.
  3. Align the laser to pass through the center of two (2) reference targets with and without offsets.
  4. Measure the alignment of the internal components of a turbine using an A-501 Target Holder with a T-218T Target and an A-511 Wand Bore Target.

SPECIFIC NEEDS TRAINING ADDRESSES: To provide the student with information to correctly qualify the L-700 Laser and to calibrate the T-261 and T-212 Targets using the A-807 calibration fixture.

This course will enable the student to properly setup, measure and calibrate T-261 and T-212 Targets using the A-807 calibration fixture and to ensure the laser system is being used is repeatable and accurate.
