Hamar Laser Instruments, Inc. announces it has launched a new Digital Video Library on YouTube. The library features laser alignment training videos that were shot in our Sarasota, FL training center by our 25 year alignment veteran, Darel Ford, who is one of the top experts in the laser alignment industry.
To make it easier to find a video to answer your questions, we have organized the videos into several categories:
- Operational videos - These videos show the basic operations of the major components of our laser systems, such as: laser, target, readout and software. For example, there are videos for the L-743 Ultra Precision Triple Scan® Laser, A-1519-2.4ZB Wireless Target, R-1307B-2.4ZB Readout, the L-111 Laser Stand Assembly, and more.
- Laser setup videos - These are the "nuts and bolts" of setting up a laser alignment system that can be applied to any application. We call aligning a laser to reference points, “bucking-in” or “buck-in”. In this set of videos, you’ll learn about 2-Point and 3-Point Buck-ins with our L-730/L0740 Series Scanning Lasers. These techniques can be applied to our bore and spindle lasers, too.
- Application videos – These videos show how to apply the basic laser setup principles to specific applications with detailed step-by-step instructions. Learn about these main alignment applications: bores, extruders, surface flatness/leveling, gantry-style machine tools, lathes, roll parallelism and more.
Digital Library Tablet
And for those who cannot access the internet or would like to have a portable training aide, we are offering a 10-inch tablet pre-loaded with all the training videos, troubleshooting guides from our Hamar Knowledge Base, manuals, application notes and brochures. The tablet has up to 6 hours of battery life to view videos and read through application notes even while "on the job." Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a quote.

Part 1 of a 5-part video showing how to use the L-743 Triple Scan® Laser Alignment system on a 6-axis horizontal floor mill. Part 1 discusses the L-743 capabilities, specs and system components. Part 2 shows how to set up the L-743 on the horizontal mill. Part 3 shows how to take data for all the main axes. Part 4 shows how to take data on the rotary and other sub axes. Part 5 shows how to take flatness data on the main table and how to measure the sub table for parallelism.
Part 2 of our 5-part video series on using the L-743 Triple Scan® to check the alignment of a horizontal floor mill. In this video, we go into detail on how to align the L-743 to 5 reference points on the machine, so with that one setup, we can check the entire machine for alignment. We show how to do a 3-point buck-in (set up) on the main table and a 2-point buck-in to the X Axis travel. When this is finished, which typically takes 10-15 minutes, the L-743 is ready to check the machine for flatness, straightness, squareness and parallelism, all without changing the setup. And since the data updates in real time, the laser can be used to re-align the axes while the user watches the alignment updating as the machine is being adjusted
Hamar Laser’s new Lathe9 software supports our L-700 Spindle Alignment system equipment to create a powerful tool for aligning the spindles on lathes or other turning-type machines. This comprehensive and easy-to-use program displays live readings of the horizontal and vertical center (offset) and the horizontal and vertical angular (slope) readings of the tailstock to the headstock and also checks the straightness of the bed ways and parallelism to the main spindle axis. For those complex applications that demand precision, the S-680BT utilizes super-linear PSDs combined with our Dual-Beam™ Technology and highly advanced electronic design to produce the most accurate system in the world today - up to 15x more accurate! Utilizing our S-680 laser and target, the S-680B has all the power of the S-680T system but without all the extra features to make this powerful laser more afforable than ever. Read More
Our newest offering in the shaft alignment industry, the S-660 features standard wireless communication, PDA smart phone, color software and high accuracy that makes it the best value in entry-level shaft alignment lasers. Our Dual Fan™ technology produces a laser fan with very little divergence that allows the use of fan-type laser for distance up to 15 feet but without having to increase power, a typical problem with fan-type lasers. The S-660 offer accuracy that is 2-3 times more accurate than our competitor's mid-level units! Read More
Hamar Laser's new Bore9 software supports all of Hamar's past and present bore alignment equipment to create a powerful tool for measuring and aligning multiple bores. This comprehensive and easy-to-use program measures bore straightness (axis centering) and diameter change Read More
