Aerospace Tooling Leveling Applications
The L-730 Precision Leveling Laser is the ideal tool for leveling tooling or jigs in aircraft manufacturing. The combination of its continuously sweeping laser plane and targets with large measuring ranges and built-in readouts make a highly efficient and extremely useful leveling tooling and other similar applications.
Laser Reduced Work Crew for Monument Alignment
The L-730 Leveling Laser has been successfully used by one, large US aircraft manufacturer to level and shim into a common plane the monument mounting surfaces of the galleys and other interior components of wide-body aircraft. This eliminated a 400-pound fixture that had to be moved from station to station by three workers to perform the alignment, and reduced the work crew from three to one.
Now that worker simply moves a 2-pound measuring target to the various points and transmits the data via our wireless system to a computer that analyzes the data to determine the "best fit" plane. The software then computes how much each point needs to be shimmed to make the entire area flat.
More Efficient Tooling Calibration
The L-730's built-in 2 arc second level vials mean multiple points can be leveled at the same time. This is especially useful for those used to traditional optical methods that require two people to adjust a single point. This time and manpower savings helps keep the cost of maintaining jig and fixture calibration to a minimum.
Very Flat Laser Plane and Highly Accurate Levels
The L-730 Laser produces a laser plane that is flat in a 180º sweep to within 2 arc seconds (0.00012" or 0.01 mm/M). In a 90º sweep, the laser plane is flat to within 1 arc second. That means that under good atmospheric conditions, the L-730 is accurate to +/-0.0006" (0.15 mm) in 10 feet (3 meters) or +/- .006" in 100 feet (30.5 meters).
Live Alignment Data
As with all Hamar Laser products, the L-730 Laser Leveling System provides live alignment data. This means you can put a target over a jacking bolt, start adjusting it and the reading will automatically update.
Multiple Targets for Large Applications
You can even use more than one target, which is extremely useful on large fixtures, aircraft assembly areas or large machine beds. In fact, up to 99 target can be used at the same time. This allows the use of multiple work crews, which can really speed alignments.
Large-Range Wireless Targets and Readouts
Our wireless targets eliminate long extension cords for reference targets. The targets work with all of our continuously rotating laser plane systems and can be used up to 100 feet (30.5 meters) from the laser.
The A-1519-2.4ZB and A-1520-2.4ZB targets have up to a 1" measuring range, a resolution as low as 0.00001" (0.00025 mm) and can be used up to 150 feet (45 meters) from the readout. The R-1355-2.4ZB Readout uses a Nomad Rugged PDA, color software and a wireless receiver to display up to 5 targets simultaneously. Other features like electronic zeroing and target averaging help to speed alignments.
New Targets Can Measure Actual Dimensions
The dimension from the bottom of new targets to the center of the target cells have been tightly controlled. This allows the targets to be used with precision inserts to measure actual dimensions from the laser plane to the surface being measured.
Color Windows Software
The L-730 can also be linked to our new Plane5 flatness analyzing software. It is a Windows 95/98/2000/XP/Win 7 based software that can analyze almost any layout for flatness or straightness. Plane5 will even analyze squareness if used with our squareness lasers. Squares, rectangles, frames, circles, rings, and up to 5 sets of ways can all be easily analyzed with Plane5. The alignment data can be automatically downloaded by using the A-910-2.4ZB Wireless receiver for the laptop.
