The need to make shafts parallel to one another, both opposing shafts (coupled) and side-by-side (sheave or pulley) is common in many industries. It is becoming more and more critical to use lasers for alignment, as motors are more powerful and run at higher RPMs. After years of successful use, it is now an established fact that laser are simply the best tool for performing the most accurate shaft alignments in the shortest time possible.

Hamar Laser developed the very first 4-axis live alignment system in the early 90's. It quickly became the standard by which other systems were judged. With the introduction of our new S-650 Wireless Coupling Alignment System, there is a new standard. To meet a growing call for pulley laser alignment, Hamar Laser designed the first pulley alignment system in 1998. Our S-600 Sheave Alignment System is the only one to truly align from the grooves of the sheaves, which are the only consistent references. Other systems use the face of the pulley or it's OD, both of which are very poor references. In fact, pulley faces can vary by up to .312" and still conform to ANSI/RMA IP-22 specification (source: Machinist's Handbook). With .0001" target resolution, the S-600 has the accuracy you need for high-tolerance applications, like grinder spindles, yet it is priced for use on any standard pulley alignment application.
